Live a Life You Love: 4 Simple Ways to Have Fun as a Mom

Time for fun? What moms have time for that? If you’re like me, you’re thinking about the million things on your to do list that are occupying your brain space and fun isn’t on that list! Am I right!?! I’m here to remind you that it’s possible to still have fun and live a life, that you love as you and as a mom!

Self care comes in many forms

Guess what? Self care IS actually important! I know, I know, we’ve all heard it by now so I’m just going to tell you again. It’s so *essential* to take care of ourselves so we can take care of our family!! Self care not only means taking time for you to be pampered and taken care of, but it also means laughing, having fun, and being you!

Invest in YOU!

One of my favorite mentors, Nicole Walters, has an awesome saying…. “Protect the asset!” That asset is YOU!!! You’re invested in so many things, business, work, being a mom, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, all the things.Take the time to recharge yourself so you can keep giving your best self to the world!

In case you didn’t notice, I used “invest” because you can invest more than just money. You invest time, resources, your heart, and your brain. When you allow yourself to get burnt out or worn down, your heart and brain (the key components of your investment) are not operating at their best levels.

I also would encourage you to read Juliette’s article here at the We Spot Blog on loving yourself. She has a great story about getting uncomfortable and some tips on loving yourself daily.

Here are 4 simple ways to make sure you’re having fun and recharging yourself

Wait! Before you dive in to the 4 ways, you’ve got to do 1 thing first!!! Go smile at yourself in the mirror. A true genuine happy smile. I mean it go right now to the closest mirror and smile. I’ll wait 😉 ….. See, doesn’t that just make you feel happier already?! Ok, now on to the 4 ways…

1. Give yourself permission to have fun!

We all have to do lists that are so long. So we have to schedule time for us! Be sure to schedule at least 30 minutes a week to just be you and have fun!!! Once you get used to being you again, you can start to incorporate your family into it as well. Want to try a new restaurant or a new sport? Invite others to join in the fun too!

2. Read a fiction book

I remember when I got permission from one of my mentors to read a fiction book. Somewhere along the way, I had it in my head that I could only read books on business and growth topics. Duhhhh! No way, make sure you get 1 fun book to read in at least every 5 business books! Give yourself permission to enjoy a good book!! This will also help your mind be more creative!!

3. Get down on the floor with your kids and have a tickle fest

So, this is probably one of my most favorite things to do for fun. Something I’ve learned as a parent is getting on the same physical level with your kids is so important and empowering to them. You can really connect with them when you’re on their level. So to up the fun, have a tickle fest and prepare for lots of giggles and fun!!!

4. Try out that old hobby you love

Remember that hobby you put on the back burner when you started your family. Now is the time to pick it up! Remember that 30 minutes a week we scheduled!?! Now you have no excuse, you have the time scheduled for it. If you decide that old hobby isn’t one you love so much anymore, well good news, you have the time to try out new ones!!

I can’t wait to hear how you’re loving the life you’re living and how much fun you’re having as you!! <3
