The We Podcast #32: Aubree Monares- Being Human

I am very excited about my guest this week on The We Podcast! I get to chat with my amazing daughter Aubree. Aubree is a college student studying elementary education. I have been trying to get her on here for months and she has finally said yes! We talk about our relationship, how me going public and sharing my story has affected our relationship, about big life transitions like going to college, why being human is so important, and lots more.

If you are a mama you must listen to this! I hope this will give you some encouragement to follow your dreams and take those bold steps to fully move into who you are! The world needs to know you and so do your children! I love to be able to get this inside perspective from a child.

Thank you so much Aubree for sharing your heart and your insight with all of us! You are a true blessing! Thank you for being courageous and saying yes!

Thank you Sarah and Aubree for this beautiful conversation….there is so much wisdom shared here. Wish I could have been able to express these thoughts with my mother. Have worked on honesty with my own daughters…way outside of the box I was presented by my own parents. Still on the journey into truth in love. God bless.

I just finished listening and have tears in my eyes at how much this validates things for me that took me a lifetime of learning the hard way,and the slow way! I love how you said in your closure, Sarah, that ‘we are not in this journey alone’ because so many people do think that they are. Years ago, I became detached from going into churches wherein everyone ‘presented’ themselves to be all smiles, no struggles, etc. One can’t relate to that kind of person when we are hurting. There is NO connection point. The best thing is walking in truth…anything less does no service to anyone. My life was, for so long being in that place of cover-up and afraid to confront or exhort those who cause it and are insensitive to causing it. Years went by before I started to apply the biblical concept that it was not only OK but good to “speak the truth in love”. Aubree speaking of grace towards ourselves blessed me so much. She is learning this so young when many of us don’t learn it till we are much older, if ever. She has a wise mom and a safe person to share with and that is a huge deal! Aubree would be a wonderful counselor as well…maybe she will end up being a school counselor! This world is hurting in so many ways and in so many avenues. Thanks for the candidacy Sarah and Aubree; for allowing yourselves to be vulnerable in sharing…. IN sharing we are NOT alone….that there is somebody else out there who ‘gets it’. (and God who does, He uses people). Big hugs to you both.
