5 Ways To Raise Money For A Home Makeover

Is your home looking drab and worn? Are you sick of seeing the same old curtains, and carpet day after day, and year after year? Well, then it’s about time for a home makeover! The problem is that making over your living space can be expensive, and even if you do everything you can to cut the cost, there will still be some money you will need to find for the budget. Happily, you can find some clever ways to raise the cash you need for your renovation below.

Sell things you no longer use

If you are going to give your home a makeover it’s very likely that you will need to do some decluttering beforehand. The great thing about this is that it provides the perfect excuse to look at the items you own, and separate out the ones you no longer use anymore. You can then sell these items either on auction sites like eBay, or platforms like Facebook marketplace. This will then provide you with extra cash that you can put towards your home makeover!

Raid your savings

If you are one of those financially sensible people, you may already have some savings that you can dip into to fund your home makeover. However, if you do choose to use your savings it’s even more imperative to ensure that you create a budget and stick to it. Otherwise you can end up eating up all the money you have saved for a rainy day – something that can leave you financially vulnerable if an emergency were to happen.

Get a loan

A fast and straightforward way of raising the money you need for a home makeover is to get a loan. Of course, you could go to your bank for this, but securing a loan from a bank can often be time consuming and complicated. You may also wish to consider an online loans service. The benefits of this being incredibly fast access to the money that you need, with fewer hoops to jump through.

Start a side hustle

One of the smartest ways to fund a home makeover is to start a side hustle. A side hustle is a way to make money in addition to your regular job. The idea here is that you don’t dedicate all your time to this puts it but ‘do it on the side’ for some extra money. You can then use this extra  money however you see fit.

There are plenty of great side hustles to choose from too including driving for Uber, selling digital products online, blogging and pet sitting. Try and find one that you enjoy so it feels less like work!

Get everyone to chip in

Lastly if you live in shared accommodation with roommates, then you may be able to put your case to them that everyone should contribute. Indeed, by sharing the cost of your home makeover you will be able to put less in personally, while still reaping the benefits of a newer and more pleasant-looking home.

Of course, you’ll also have to navigate everyone else’s opinions too. After all, if they are adding to the budget then they will also have a say in what the makeover should look like.
