4 Ways To Kickstart A Fitness Routine That’s Gone Stale

Have you been committing to a fitness routine lately? Having some trouble staying committed to it, now you’ve been doing it for a few weeks? We get you!

If you’ve hit a snag, and it’s harder to find the time, energy, or even simple desire to workout, this is the post for you.

After all, healthy habits don’t bless us with their presence without some serious concentrated effort. It’s very difficult to put some consistency into your fitness goals, and there often comes a point where you just can’t keep it together any longer.

If that sounds like the position you’re currently stuck in, the four methods of kickstarting your fitness routine back into action could be just the ideas you’re looking for.

Add in Some High Intensity Exercises

Not seeing any more ‘gains’? Add some high intensity exercises to your roster! These are the kind of exercises that get your heart rate soaring in the space of fifteen minutes. HIIT is a great starting point for workouts like these, and sprinkling a few in could be the one thing you need to get back on track.

Join a Class

Being surrounded by other fitness enthusiasts, in a supportive environment that gets you out of the house, is a fantastic way to put some spice back into your fitness routine.

It’ll get you feeling motivated to work on your strength and cardio at least once a week, and that could be the exact workout schedule that really works for you too. It’s always nice to meet other people with the same fitness goals, and who are just trying to do the best for their health.

Exercising with similar people will help you to feel like you’re in the right place, and doing the right thing. That’s the kind of feeling that makes it a lot easier to commit to a fitness routine that’s gotten you feeling outside of yourself.

Combine with Other Fitness Methods

Sometimes, all you need is a helping hand. If your fitness routine has gone stale because you felt you were getting little to nothing out of it, try combining it with other fitness methods.

You can do this in many different ways, such as getting an accountability partner, or trying a course of oral semaglutide if you’ve hit a plateau in trying to lose weight, but it’s up to you what will work best.

Take your fitness routine back to the drawing board and take out the parts that aren’t working. Then replace them with the supplementary actions you’d like to try to see if you get any closer to your intended goals.

Try Something Else

You might be putting a lot of pressure on yourself by trying to stick to this one routine. Usually this involves beating yourself up for not sticking to it as much as you think you should be, as well as comparing yourself to many other people who seem to be able to commit to their workout.

But in truth, if this one routine feels so time-consuming and abhorrent to you, there’s a good chance you just don’t like what you’re doing. It’s never good to try and force yourself to stick to something you actively do not enjoy; it’ll make it a lot harder to try and keep fit as time goes on, and that’s not a habit you want to get into.

So don’t accidentally cultivate it. Instead, pick up some other routine or exercise and do that instead. If you find it hard to go jogging every morning, stop trying to make yourself! Maybe you’d be better off swimming twice a week instead?

Or perhaps you should pick up that one sports class you used to like doing, such as dancing, playing tennis, competing in soccer games, etc?

Like we said above, joining a class is always a great way to motivate yourself, thanks to the connections you can form with the other attendees, so why not combine that with a strong feeling of enjoyment around exercise for once?

Get Your Fitness Routine Back into Shape

Fitness routines can go stale, and when they do, you’re going to suffer at the hands of demotivation and inactivity. It’s so easy to slip back into these habits as time goes on, and it’s even harder to recognize that you’re letting yourself do so.

But there are ways to get yourself back on track. Start with the first point above and work your way down the list.
