Come and Take a Seat: There is Room for YOU at Our Table

Today is the launch of The We Spot blog. Let me tell you, this has been a LONG time coming. It’s absolutely amazing to see it come to fruition. The most amazing thing is that you’re here and that we have this space to engage in authentic and inclusive community. So as we get rolling, I want to tell you a bit about the heart and mission behind the blog.

Something Was Missing

The thought behind this community was sparked a couple years ago with a series of events. The main influence being the many clients I have seen in therapy and the theme of what most of them needed in everyday life… but was missing. There was a serious lack of growth communities, outside of therapy, where people could link arms and grow together. A place to be honest and real. A space to show up just as you are and be welcomed into growth and community.

Around the time I started to really pay attention to the themes with my clients, I was working with a mentor who taught me about the online world. In the end, I also learned some hard lessons about what I didn’t want to do in my life or my business. These were not lessons I was excited to learn, but they were important. This experience magnified the fact that there was a true need for a learning and growth space with real, authentic, team based leadership.

Putting Heart Into Motion

It’s one thing to have a dream in your heart and see a need that must be filled. These dreams and intentions hold little power, if there is no movement. So… in January 2018, I decided to take major action. I was dedicated to movement, even though I had no clue what I was doing! I allowed the next, right step to guide me. First, I started with creating the We Are Women Rising meet up. Next, came The We Podcast. Both were awesome! Yet, I still knew I needed more of a rhyme and a reason to it all.

Following the path of developing what felt consistent with my heart, I knew it was time to form a bigger community and assemble a team. With the help of the amazing We Spot leaders Dani, Heather, and Christina (meet them here), we assembled The We Spot community. The We Spot blog is a branch of a large, personal growth community.

The Importance of a Name

You may notice that everything we do is centered around the word “We”. This, my friends, is VERY intentional. When I was trying to figure out what to name the podcast I was wracking my brain trying to come up with something great. Then, one day, it came to me in the shower (thank goodness for the creative shower brain that always presents itself). I wanted everything to be centered around “We”. It was never my intention to be in business alone. I wanted to create a space where WE can be together! A place where everyone could come and learn and experience real and vulnerable connection. The truth is, we belong to each other. We need each other. We should be in community with one another.

So, when we say WE, I hope you really know that means YOU and me and all of the other amazing people in our community. We are inviting you to come and take a seat. There is room at our table for you! We have worked hard to build a community where everyone is welcome and our door is always open to the positive, open minded, loving people who want to grow. It does not matter where you are in your growth journey. You are welcome here!

Inviting You Into Community

We can’t promise that you’re going to agree with every article or podcast interview. We have a diverse group of writers (meet them here) with a plethora of beliefs and platforms. You may connect personally with some more than others and that is OK! It’s also great to allow yourself to take in information from each of them and decide what fits for you and what doesn’t. Sometimes the best learning about ourselves comes from the people who challenge us the most.

What we CAN promise you is that we will show up with you for any conversation. That we will challenge you to grow and think outside the box. This isn’t a place with one way thinking. We will talk about the hard stuff and funny stuff. Nothing is off limits. And you can bet that no matter, what we will encourage you to push yourself and your way of thinking. This is a growth community. Growth can be uncomfortable and messy, and it can also be peaceful and beautiful. It doesn’t always look the same.

This is YOUR Spot

This is a place for true authenticity and vulnerability. Our writers are committed to going to a space with you that we don’t often go in everyday life. It’s a beautiful thing. Many of us are missing the true and unfiltered dialog. We live in a world of masks and perfection. We are more connected with technology than ever before, yet we are also the most lonely and isolated than we’ve ever been.

This is not a space to surround yourself with people who are exactly like you. It’s not a place where we will encourage you to put yourself in a pretty little box. It’s actually the opposite. It’s a space to tear open that box and refuse to allow the confinement and restriction it provokes. It’s a space to link arms with one another and celebrate our differences.

This is YOUR space to show up and do the work with other women who have your back. Dive in, get involved, and connect with us! WE cannot wait to grow and journey with you in a whole new way! Thank you for being a part of The We Spot Community! Find us on Facebook and Instagram as well!
