Finding Yourself in the New Year: Awakening Your Creativity in 2020

It seems that everyone sets some type of goal or selects a word for the new year. Today I wanted to share some ways to find yourself in the new year by awakening your creativity in 2020.

By approaching the new year in a different manner you will be more aware and ready to open your creative side.

Statistics on new Years Resolutions

Heading into a new year brings about the promise of a fresh start with excitement. Excitement that often lags within the first three months of the new year.

Statistics show that less than 25% of people actually stay committed to their goals thirty days in and only about 8% accomplish their goals.

This made me think that there has got to be a better way to accomplish things and awakening your creativity in the new year.

Instead of the normal goals of losing weight, working out and eating healthier, which are amazing things to incorporate into everyday living, approach the new year with an adventurous spirit.

Having an adventurous spirit

By that I mean, approach the year by facing a fear, or by doing something totally new, a unique experience to create a spark and ignite creativity.

Facing a fear for personal awakening

Facing fears can help you become unstuck while bringing about more awareness in your every day.

Often times we are so grounded in our everyday routines of life that we are just going through the motions.

Just like when you drive the same route to work everyday, some days you arrive not remembering driving there.

We are simply sleep walking through our busy, noisy lives.

This can make it very difficult to remain committed to new goals or any goals for that matter.

In order to achieve new goals or awaken our motivation and creativity, we need to become more aware.

Create new experiences for reviving creativity

By welcoming new things you awaken yourself and your senses. Creating unique experiences has some great benefits:

  • overcome fear
  • get to know yourself better
  • learn new skills
  • stimulate creativity
  • get yourself unstuck

In a sense, facing a fear or experiencing something new and different takes us out of our comfort zone and in a sense brings our senses back to life.

Some ideas of things to try (if you never have)

  • surfing
  • participating in a dolphin dip or polar plunge
  • take a dance class
  • take an art class
  • learn a new language
  • cooking classes

The idea here is to do something you fear or have never done before. The value of creativity is it creates possibilities and liveliness in ones life, changing the everyday experience.

Think about it, if you live the same every day for years and years you become less motivated and less aware of what is right in front of you.

By approaching the new year this way you may discover new passions.

This could possibly lead to new careers or life’s path.

New adventures creates challenges in life and challenges promote growth.

Often we stay in the safe zones in our lives not experiencing new things, keeping us stuck.

This is the year to change the way you approach the new year.

Finding and reviving yourself in the new year

Approaching 2020 by doing some new things, awakening your senses and your brain can bring about unexpected and welcomed growth.

So while you may want to get healthier in the new year, go ahead and add in some new experiences that will help you become more creative in the pursuit of your goals in life.
