We aren’t going to lie to you, getting over a breakup isn’t easy, but when you take the right steps you will get over it. After you have spent a long time with your partner, you create a connection, which once ended, will slowly fade over time.
To help quicken the fade, you can do various things. Some people like to apply a No Contact Rule, which has helped speed up the process and made it easier for them. Others, practise self-care (which is very important) and set boundaries. Talking to your friends and family members is also very helpful, as they can support you and give you their perspective on the situation.
If you are going through a breakup and trying to get over it, keep reading our guide for tips for getting over a recent breakup.
Talk to your friends and family members
Whenever you are going through a tough time in life, it’s important to reach out to the people around you, who love you. They will be able to share their experiences with you, whilst also comforting you and being your support network. Think about it this way, if they were going through a tough time, would you want them to reach out to you, for support? The answer will be yes, so make sure you do the same. The more people around you to help you through a breakup, the easier it will be for sure.
Set Boundaries
Boundary setting is very important, especially if you lived together before you broke up. First off, block them on social media, the last thing you want to see is their Instagram, TikTok and Facebook posts as this is a constant reminder. Try to limit contact with them if you can, as the more you see them, the more you will remember all the good times and find it harder to get over them and ask your friends not to talk about them so that you don’t have to have them constantly on your mind – you want the situation to be as stress-free as possible.
Keep Busy
Keeping busy is always a good method, when you are stressed, having a bad week or in this case, getting over a breakup. When you are busy, you forget about the hustle and bustle that everyday life brings, as you will be in the zone. Make sure you keep taking part in any sports that you enjoy, keep yourself entertained with your friends in the evening and really get stuck in at work during the day. Time goes by a lot quicker when you are busy.
Practice Self-Care
As a priority, look after yourself. You may be going through a hard time, but it will be even harder if you aren’t looking after yourself. Make sure you are still eating a healthy diet, ensure you are getting enough sleep, drinking enough water, exercising enough and not giving up on the world and hiding away at home. Wear your favorite outfits out, spray your favorite perfume, and keep up with any make-up routines. Self-care is so important and by feeling your best through a hard time, you will find it easier to get over a recent breakup.
Give yourself time
