How To Make Your Day Better

We’ve all had bad days that feel as though time is speeding up or slowing down – whichever is worse – and where everything just seems to go wrong; even the smallest inconvenience can be too much at times. The good news is that there are things you can do that can make these kinds of days better, and once you know what they are, you can turn the average day into a great one. With that in mind, keep reading to find out more about how to make your day better.

Start The Morning With Intention

It can sometimes feel like your day is going off track before it even starts – you wake up feeling down or unnerved about something, and even if you can’t put your finger on quite what it is, it’s still going to weigh you down and put a dark cloud over the day. If that’s the case more often than not, that’s your sign to try a morning routine that gives you more control and makes you feel calmer and more positive – starting your day with intention isn’t actually that hard either, which is brilliant.

In fact, it could be a matter of taking a few minutes to enjoy a quiet cup of coffee before you start anything else, or maybe writing down three things you’re looking forward to that day – if you think hard enough, you’re sure to come up with something. If those things aren’t something that would work for you, what about a ‘five-minute reset’? Take five minutes to sit in silence and think about the day ahead, framing everything in a positive way. You’ll feel so much better afterwards.

Move Around

Even the slightest amount of movement can be the key to flipping a sluggish mood into a fantastic one (or at least one that’s a bit more energized), and studies show that moving your body, whether you go for a short (but ideally brisk) walk, do a bit of yoga, or go to a dance class (among thousands of other things you could do) releases endorphins, known as ‘feel good hormones’, and the name alone should give you a clue about how that’s going to make you feel.

Once you’ve taken a little bit of time to explore your options, you’ll find that there’s definitely a kind of movement that suits you and that you enjoy, and that’s really important. If you don’t like the exercises you’re doing, you’re not going to be motivated to keep doing them, and you’ll fall back into old routines that don’t make you feel good. If you’re exercising in a way you enjoy, whatever it might be, you’ll keep going, and that’s where you’ll see results not just mentally but physically too.

Think About Your Treatment

If your mood feels constantly low or you’re finding it really hard to break away from negative patterns and routines, professional help can help give you a better idea of how to help yourself, and you should be able to get some coping mechanisms that are just for you – and that’s so important. There are some amazing options open to people who need some help with their mental health, so don’t be afraid to ask – it might be that ketamine therapy is the right way to go, and it’s certainly something that seems to be helping a lot of people with depression and mood disorders, for example. Or perhaps you need talk therapy, which many people find is a way to really express themselves and get to the heart of what’s wrong.

The thing to remember is that mental health care isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution, and what works for one person might not work for another, which is why it’s always best to speak to a professional for help and guidance. You’ll get expert advice which will ensure you can make the right choice when it comes to how to treat your mental health, and once you’ve cracked that, you’ll always be able to make any day better because you’ll know how to make yourself better.

Choose Connection

This might seem like a strange thing to suggest because, after all, we live in an incredibly connected world where it doesn’t seem possible to not be connected at all times – so why choose it? Well, when you think about it, we might all be connected, but it’s very easy to make it through an entire day without any kind of meaningful conversation, and that can take a toll on our mental health and make the day feel less positive than it could.

That’s why a quick phone call with a loved one, catching up over lunch, or just texting someone to say good morning can really make a difference and give you a positive feeling about the day rather than a negative one (or a ‘meh’ one, which is just as bad). Making even the smallest interaction a priority in your day can help massively, and you’ll feel connected in the right way, rather than in the one we’ve all come to accept as the norm.

Focus On The Present

Sometimes we can really get caught up in the idea of doing things perfectly, from big projects at work to doing general things around the house, for example. The problem is that although it might seem like the right thing to do, this kind of thinking can make even the smallest tasks seem much bigger than they should, and that’s going to add pressure to your day and make it feel more difficult.

Instead of trying to be perfect, the best thing to do is to let go of perfection and just focus on progress in the present moment – be happy with the small wins, even if they don’t feel all that impressive (every win is impressive when you think about it), and when you celebrate them, it’s going to make the day much better overall. Plus, it’s going to make you feel motivated to keep moving forward, so it’s a good thing no matter which way you look at it.
